Research Interests: Psychiatric illness in relation to the structure and function of the brain, neurodegeneration, psychopharmacology.
Hobbies: Baseball, Olympic weightlifting, fingerstyle guitar, horror movies, taking pictures of my cat.

Linzhi Wu
Research Coordinator
Degrees: BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience with a minor in Critical Health Studies from Dalhousie University; BSc in Biochemistry with Co-op and Minor in Business.
Research Interests: I am interested in examining the relationships between genetics, brain structure, and the etiologies of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Hobbies: Running, strength training, singing, hiking, watercolour painting, and film analysis

Lorielle Dietze
3rd Year PhD Candidate in Medical Neuroscience
Degrees: MSc in Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2019; B.A. in Honours Psychology with a minor in Classical Studies from University of Waterloo in 2017.
Research Interests: Lorielle is primarily interested in studying neurodegeneration. Her main research interests are focused on what roles conditions of metabolism, like diabetes and obesity, play in the brain. For her PhD research, she is currently studying the interplay between metabolism, mental illness, and brain imaging.
Hobbies: Dance cardio, yoga, pilates, and drawing with India ink.

Dr. Sean McWhinney
Post-Doc
Degrees: Postdoctoral fellow with a background in Psychology & Neuroscience (MSc & PhD) from Dalhousie University.
Research Interests: I’m interested in new methods in neuroimaging to make better use of the information we have, so we can work toward providing more detailed and personalized results, and tailor treatment for individuals. I’m always looking for ways to improve the quality of data through novel applications of analytical techniques.
Hobbies: I love music (synth/darkwave, industrial, prog/black metal, melodeath), and I’m an EDM producer & hobbyist DJ. Enthusiast in retro video games, social virtual reality, and modifying electronics to do things they were never designed for.

Maya Selitser

Research Interests: I am interested in defining biomarkers of various mental illnesses such as addiction, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and more.
Hobbies: My hobbies include snowboarding, hiking, surfing, camping and exploring the outdoors.

Research Interests: I am interested in clinical research, antipsychotic medications and their impact on metabolic alterations in individuals with first episode of psychosis

Research Interests: “Measurable psychiatry” – objective biomarkers, outcome prediction, digital phenotyping, longitudinal data, methods for heterogeneous multidimensional data
Hobbies: Making music – playing the guitar (electric in several bands, acoustic at home & campfire), Outdoor activites and bike, Fixing and building stuff 🙂

Dr. Tariq Alotaibi
Postdoctoral Clinical Fellow in Mood Disorders
Degrees: Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery “MBBS” & Saudi Board of Psychiatry.
Research Interests: Bipolar disorders, depressive disorders, metabolic changes in mood disorders, and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
Hobbies: Soccer and chess.

Emily Corkum
Research Coordinator
Degrees: BSc with a Combined Honours in Neuroscience and Microbiology and Immunology from Dalhousie University in 2021.
Research Interests: I am interested in exploring the effects of mood disorders on the brain and what is it about pharmaceuticals that can help mediate the symptoms of those mood disorders. I love how this research can be applied to a clinical setting and begin to directly help those in need.
Hobbies: I love powerlifting, hiking, biking, and various art/multi-media projects.
